From the Library…
The quickly approaching holiday season brings to mind the many things I am thankful for here in the LMS Library. First and foremost are the wonderful students I see every day. To be able to continue to open up the world of books for them is a real privilege. The books being written today for young adults are exceptional! I enjoy sharing my enthusiasm and especially feeling theirs. Secondly, I am so thankful for and proud of the staff here at LMS. The commitment, dedication, quality, and focus they show each day to helping our students improve and be successful should make them eligible for sainthood! I am also incredibly thankful for all the people in our community who contribute to our students through the LMS Library. We receive donations from families, individual community members, students and teachers, as well as from organizations such as the Pullman Education Foundation. Many of you may not realize you are supporting the LMS library and classrooms with every book you buy for your children and friends at the Scholastic Book Fair taking place at the beginning of this month. Each year we are showered with free books because of the terrific support from the community. Special thanks to those LMS Boosters who organize and work so hard to keep the Book Fair so successful. Our events would not happen without all the parent volunteers who so graciously give of their time. Your continued support is so appreciated! Finally, I am thankful for the support parents give to their children by encouraging reading and learning in the home. The world will always be open to them as long as they continue to improve their skills, understanding, and wonder through reading. Your example and encouragement is a gift that will keep on giving throughout their lives. All my best wishes to you and your families for a wonderful and safe holiday season!

Lincoln Middle School Instrumental Music Program 2009-2010
We are gearing up for a very busy month in the Instrumental Music Department! We have many performances during December, and hope you can join us for them. The Orchestras will be performing in their annual All-District Concert, “Holiday for Strings” on Thursday, December 3rd. The concert will be at 7:30 in the LMS Gymnasium and will feature all of the orchestras in the school district. In addition, the 7th and 8th grade Orchestra will perform with the PHS Orchestra for the Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, December 5th at 11:00 am. This event takes place in the LMS Commons and is a lot of fun. The 7th and 8th grade Jazz Band will also perform for the Kiwanis Pancake breakfast. They perform at 10:30am. We hope to see many parents there supporting our music groups and the great work that the Kiwanis Club does. The Winter Band concert will be held Tuesday, December 15th at 7:30 in the LMS Gymnasium. This concert will feature the debut of the 6th grade Concert Band, the 7th grade Concert Band, 8th grade Concert Band, and the 7th and 8th grade Jazz Band. The students have been working hard to put together their music for this concert. It should be fantastic! CDs will be sold before and after both the Orchestra and Band concerts. Cost is $10 cash or checks made payable to LMS. Thank you all for your support of the LMS Instrumental Music Program! Remember to check the music department website: http://www.lmsmusic.org for up-to-date information for both the band and orchestra programs. DRAMA CLUB
D
rama Club students are fast at work learning and improving their acting skills through large and small group theatre games and activities. They have also begun to explore behind the scenes roles as they learn about all parts of theatre production. To put all of their skills to work, Drama Club members have begun to look at small group plays and monologues for production. Look for performance dates in the January newsletter!
