§  Encourage your student to pick a topic in which they are interested. Offer support and help but don’t take over! There are many everyday things around the house (in the kitchen, toys) that can turn into a fun experiment. Students should ask questions to which they don’t know the answer.

§  Experiments should be designed and used to try and answer their question.

§  Encourage your child/children to take notes and pictures and find some background information from books and/or the internet.

§  Poster Details:beaker

·      The poster should be able to stand by itself (for example use a tri-fold poster board), and occupy no more than 4x4 feet on a table.

·      Subheadings should be along the lines of: Question/Hypothesis, Procedure, Results, and Conclusion.

·      Colorful labels and diagrams really enhance presentations, keep it simple, and use lettering that can be read from a few feet away.

·      If you are bringing materials in addition to the poster label them and add a sign to indicate if it is hands-on or hands–off (e.g. Please Touch Carefully” or “Please Do Not Touch”).

§  Student’s name, grade, and teacher should be ON THE FRONT of the poster (this is different from previous years).

***Medals and certificates will be awarded to all individual participants***
