About PHS
Pullman High School has a long-standing tradition as one of the top academic schools in Washington. Students are provided with a rigorous, challenging curriculum from a broad selection of course work. Many Honors and Advanced Placement courses are available to students as well as advanced Running Start course work through Washington State University and area community colleges. In the past five years alone Pullman High School has produced 17 National Merit Scholar Finalists. Our WASL scores have averaged 60.1 in math, 69.2 in writing, 78.5 in reading, and 88.2 in listening over the past four years, which are amongst the highest scores in Washington State. In 2002 PHS was selected by Offspring Magazine as one of the top 100 high schools in the United States, as measured by living costs, academic expenditure, academic performance (ACT & SAT) as well as the number of National Merit Scholars produced since 1985.
PHS students and staff strive toward excellence in both academic and activities arenas. Pullman High School has been awarded the All Sports Award by the Great Northern League for having the most successful overall athletic programs three of the past four years. The Tacoma News Tribune awarded PHS their 2A State All Sports Trophy for having the most teams in state competition this year. PHS athletes have won 10 WIAA State Championships in various boys and girls activities during the past five years. This spring PHS was also awarded the prestigious WIAA Wells Fargo All State 2A Scholastic Cup for excellence in both the academic and activities arenas.
PHS is supported and perpetuated by a powerful network of caring teachers, parents, and community. Our Pullman Education Foundation has raised more than $200,000.00 to support achievement in all areas of our school. The teamwork provided by people in our school and community continues to provide excellent learning opportunities as well as a high standard of achievement for all of us here at Pullman High School. We invite the community to come visit us anytime or get involved as a volunteer.
