Spring Post Season Updates:

Girls’ Golf Wins District Title:  The Greyhounds won the District Championship on Monday 5-13-13 at MeadowWood in Spokane behind the strong performance of Becky Birchett who tied for the individual title with a 2 day total of 189.  In addition, Nicole Welter, who was the GNL Tournament Medalist, finished third.  Both have qualified for the State Championships next week in Tacoma.  Go Hounds!

 

Boys’ Golf Takes 2nd at District: The Hounds finished 2nd at the District Championships at MeadowWood in Spokane on Monday 5-13-13.  Reid McPherson and  Brian Martin both qualified for the State Championships next week in Tacoma.  Go Hounds!

 

Girls’ Track Sends Seven to CWAC Crossover: The PHS Girls’ Track team placed 3rd in the District Meet at West Valley Spokane on Friday 5-10-13.  Seven Greyhounds will travel to Prosser on Friday 5-17-13 to compete in the CWAC Crossover District Meet.  The top 4 will qualify for the State Championships in Tacoma on 5-23, 24, and 25. Baseball Loses in District Tournament: The PHS Baseball team lost a tough 5-4 game to Colville on Saturday 5-11-13 ending their season.  Despite a slow start early in the year, the Hounds finished strong, winning several games including a 1st round District playoff game with Cheney. 

 

The Boys’ and Girls’ Golf teams both finished the regular season as the number 2 teams in the GNL.   Go Hounds!!!

The Greyhound Boys’ and Girls’ Tennis teams both finished undefeated in the GNL with victories over East Valley on Thursday. Both teams earned GNL Championships.  Go Hounds!!!

GREYHOUND HEADLINES: 
Boys' Soccer Eliminated in the District Semi-Finals:  East Valley defeated the PHS Boys Soccer team 2-0 on Saturday 5-4-13 ending the Greyhounds season.  They finished the year as the 3rd place team in both the GNL and district tournament.  Congratulations to the Hounds for excellent effort this season.
 
Boys' Soccer Wins 1st Round Match:  The Boys’ Soccer team defeated Clarkston 6-1 on Thursday in the 1st round of the district tournament. They play East Valley, Spokane at Gonzaga Prep on Saturday (5-4-13) at 2:00 PM in district semi-final match. The winner will play the winner of the West Valley, Spokane/Cheney match next Tuesday at the site of the higher seed for the District Championship. Go Hounds!!!
 
Boys' and Girls' Tennis Win League TitlesThe Greyhound Boys’ and Girls’ Tennis teams both finished undefeated in the GNL with victories over East Valley on Thursday. Both teams earned GNL Championships and will compete in the District Tournament next Friday and Saturday (5-10 and 5-11) at WSU at 10 AM. Boys' Soccer Postseason:  The Hounds finished the regular season as the GNL 3rd place team.  They will open district play at home on Thursday 5-2-13 hosting Clarkston at 4:00 PM.  The winner will travel to Gonzaga Prep on Saturday May 4th to play East Valley of Spokane.  Go Hounds!!!    2013 Boys' District Soccer Bracket
 
Hounds Win 2A  Boys' State Basketball Title:  Pullman High School defeated Anacortes  44-38 to win the schools first state basketball championship.  To get there, they defeated Burlington-Edison and Renton before beating Anacortes for the title in the 3 day tournament.  This was Pullman's  19th appearance in the state  tournament, and their 3rd in the state championship game.  The Greyhounds finished the season winning 27 games in a row ending the year with a final record of 27-1. Congratulations to the Hounds for an outstanding season.
 
Boys Qualify For the Final 8 at State:  The PHS Boys' Basketball Team defeated Ellensburg 62-56 on Saturday 2-23-13 in the Round of 16 State Regional Basketball Game.  The Hounds will now move on to the 3 day 8 team State Tournament in Yakima. Their first opponent will be the Burlington-Edison Tigers at 9:00 AM on Thursday 2-28-13 at the Yakima Sundome. Boys' Basketball Qualifies for State:  The Greyhounds defeeted Grandview 67-61 in hard fought sub regional game at PHS on 2-20-13.  The win sends the Hounds to a State Regional Round of 16 matchup with Ellensburg on Saturday 2-23-13.  The game will be played Nicholson Pavilion on the campus of Central Washington University at 4:00 PM.  Go Hounds!!!
 
Girls' Basketball End Season at Grandview:  The Greyhounds lost a loser out sub regional game at Grandview on 2-19-13.  The Hounds plagued by several key late season injuries were not able to overcome Grandview on their home floor.  Despite the loss the Hounds had an outstanding season winning the GNL Title and placing 2nd at the district tournament. 
 
Boys' Swim Places 8th at State Meet:  The Pullman High School Boys' Swim Team placed 8th at the 2A State Swim Meet in Federal Way on Feb. 15 and 16.  There were 32 schools and over 300 athletes participating. This accomplishment compliments the League Championship and 2nd place at District earned earlier this month.  Congratulations to the Boys' swim Team for another great season.
 
Girls' Earn 2nd Seed With Win Over EV Spokane: The Greyhound Girls' Basketball Team overcame key injuries to defeat East Valley Spokane 47 to 36 earning the District 7 #2 seed and a sub-regional game.  Pullman will travel Grandview on Tuesday to play the other Greyhounds in a 6 PM matchup.  The winner will advance to Regionals and the loser is out.  Go Hounds!!!
 
Boys' Win District Basketball Title:  The Greyhounds defeated Clarkston 67 to 57 to win the District 7 Basketball Championship on Friday 2-15-13.  The Hounds will play the CWAC #4 team (Wapato or Grandview) on Wednesday 2-20-13 at 6:00 PM at Pullman in a winner to Regionals /loser out game.  Go Hounds!!!
 
Girls' Lose District Title Game:  The PHS Girls' Basketball team traveled to West Valley Spokane on Friday 2-15-13 and lost a hard fought game to the Eagles.  The Hounds will return to Pullman tomorrow for a game with East Valley.  The winner will be the #2 seed and travel to Grandview on Tuesday 2-19-13 for a winner to Regionals/loser out game.
 
Greyhound Girls' defeat East Valley in District Semi-final:  The Pullman High School girls' basketball team beat East Valley Spokane 57-49 in the semi-finals of the District 7 Basketball Tournament on Thursday 2-14-13.  The win puts the Hounds in the District Championship against West Valley Spokane on Friday 2-15-13 at 7:00 PM at West Valley.  The winner will be the District 7 #1 seed and host the CWAC #4 team on Tuesday 2-19-13 at 6:00 PM in a winner to Regionals loser out game.  The loser of the district championship game  will host the winner of the East Valley/ Cheney game on Saturday 2-16-13 at 2:00 PM for the District 7 #2 seed.  The #2 seed will travel to the CWAC #3 on Tuesday in a winner to Regionals loser out game.
 
Hound Boys' Defeat Colville in District Semifinal:  The Pullman boys' defeated Colville 69 to 29 in the District 7 semi-final game at PHS on Wednesday 2-13-13. The Hounds will host Clarkston on Friday 2-15-13 at 7:00 PM in the district championship game. The winner will be the District 7 #1 seed and host the CWAC #4 seed on Wednesday 2-20-13 at 6:00 PM in a loser out sub-regional crossover game.  The loser will host the winner of the West Valley/Colville game on Saturday 2-16-13 at 4:00 PM for the District 7 #2 seed. The #2 seed will travel to CWAC #3 seed on Wednesday for a 6:00 PM game.
 
Girls' Basketball Wins League Title: The Greyhounds defeated East Valley Spokane in their last league contest to earn a tie for the league title with West Valley Spokane.  The Hounds will be the #2 seed into the district tournament by virtue of a pre-season number draw.  They will open the District tournament on Thursday 2-14-13 at 7:00 PM against the winner of the Clarkston/East valley Spokane game.  The girls will host all district tournament games except those against West Valley Spokane who is the #1 seed. Boys' Swim Wins 4th Consecutive League Title:  The Pullman High School swim won their 4th consecutive Eastern Washington Swim League championship by going undefeated against all 2A swim teams on the eastside of the state.  The Hounds will compete at the District Championships in Ellensburg on 2-1 and 2-2-13.  Go Hounds!!!
 
 
Girls' Soccer Finishes Season Tied for 5th in State: Girls' soccer lost a tough match to West Valley Yakima 2-0 on 11-10-12 in the state quarterfinals. The loss eliminates the Hounds from the playoffs.  Despite the loss the Greyhounds won the GNL  and District 7 Championships and finished tied for 5th in the state. The Greyhounds ended the year with an outstanding 20-2 overall record. Great job ladies and congratulations on a fine season! 

 Football Bows out of State Playoffs:  The Greyhounds lost in their 1st round state playoff  to Prosser ending their season on 11-9-12.  Despite the loss the Hounds finished as Co- GNL Champions despite being picked last by league coaches in the pre-season.  The Hounds end the 2012 season with a 6-4 record and a league title. Girls' Swim places 13th at State Meet:  The Greyhounds concluded a successful season by finishing 13th at the state meet in Federal Way 11-9,10-12. Several swimmers had strong performances leading the way for the Hounds. They also won league and district championships along the way. Congratulations on another successful season for the PHS Girls Swim Team.
 

Girls' Soccer Advances in State Tournament:The PHS Girls' Soccer team defeated Selah 2-1  11/7/12, in the 1st round of the state playoffs. They will travel to West Valley of Yakima on Saturday for a 1:00 PM State Quarterfinal match. Admission will be $8/6  Go Hounds!!

 
Greyhound Football Co- Champs: Despite a tough loss at Colville on 11-1-12 Pullman finished with a 4-2 record in the GNL and in a 4 way tie for the league championship.  They earned the #1 seed into the State tournament by way of there head to head victories as per the GNL Tiebreaker criteria.  The Hounds will host Prosser on Friday 11-9-12 at 7:00 PM at PHS in the 1st round of the 2A State Football Championships.  Admission is Adults $8 and Students and Seniors $6.  Go Hounds!!!!! 
 

Girls’ SoccerQualifies for State: On Saturday, 11/3/12, the Greyhounds defeatedProsser 1-0 in a Regional Crossover match, to qualify for the State Tournament.Pullman will host Selah in the first round of the State Tournament on Wednesday,11/7/12 at 2:00pm. Girls’ Soccer andBoys’ Cross Country win Academic State Champions: The Pullman HighSchool Girls’ Soccer and Boys’ Cross Country teams earned State Championshipsin the ”WIAA/Dairy Farmers of Washington/Les Schwab Tires Scholastic AwardsProgram” . The Girls’ Soccer team earned an accumulative GPA of 3.858 and theBoys’ Cross Country team earned an accumulative GPA of 3.830. Both teams hadthe highest GPA of the 64 2A teams in Washington. Girls Swim wins District Championship: The PHS Girls Swim Team won the District Championship on Saturday 10-27-12 in Ellensburg.  The Greyhounds scored 348 pts. out distancing Ellensburg 311 and West Valley Yakima 273. The Hounds qualified 3 relays and 3 individuals for the state meeet in Federal Way on Nov. 9th and 10th. Girls' Swim District Results   For State Meet information, follow this linkhttp://www.wiaa.com/subcontent.aspx?SecID=314
  
Girls District Volleyball:  The Pullman Volleyball team placed 3rd in the District Tournament.  In the finals held at Colville on 10-27-12 the Hounds defeated Cheney before losing to East Valley Spokane for a chance to advance to a Crossover match with the CWAC number 3 team.  The Greyhounds finish the year placing 2nd in the GNL and 3rd in the District 7 Tournament. 

Girls Swim wins League Championship for 3rd year in a row: The Pullman High School Girls Swim Team earned their 3rd league championship in a row, going undefeated this past season. They will compete for the District championship in Ellensburg on Oct. 26 and 27. Pullman Girls Soccer wins 2nd GNL Championship in a row: The PHS Girls Soccer Team won the Great Northern League Championship for a 2nd year in a row with a record of 12 wins 0 losses. They will begin district tournament play on Tuesday Oct 30 here at PHS at 3:30pm against Cheney. Admission is $6/$4. Tournament info can be found Here. Go Hounds!!!
 

2011-2012:

Hounds 2nd in 2A State Scholastic Cup 2011-12 
The Pullman Greyhounds finished 2nd in the WIAA/Washington National Guard 2A Scholastic Cup competition for 2011-12. The Hounds earned 1280 points and a 2nd place finish out of more than 50 2A schools statewide.  Points are earned for qualifying and placing in state athletic competitions with state champions earning 100 points down thru state qualifiers who earn a minimum of 10 points.  Points are also earned by sport and activity for having a top 8 in the state team GPA with state champions earning 100 points down thru 30 points for 8th place.  This year Pullman High School had 10 athletic teams earning points with 7 placing in the top 8 at state tournaments. 17 teams and activities earned academic points by placing in the top 8 statewide. Since the inception of the Scholastic Cup in 2003 the Greyhounds have finished in the top four, 9 out of 10 years.

State Track:The Boys Track team placed 6th at the state meet in Tacoma. Highlights include Adam Mahama winning the state title in the discus, and placing 2nd in the shot.  Ben Pavish placed 3rd in the triple jump.  The girls team placed 7th with Lauren McCluskey wining the state title in the high jump and placing 2nd in the 100 hurdles. Anna Guo placed 3rd in both the long and triple jumps.  Congratulations to the PHS Track Team!!! 

State Tennis: The Girls tennis Team placed 5th at the state tournament in Seattle.  Highlights included Stephanie Her placing 8th as well as the doubles team of Shayla Robinson and Brittani Harvey who also placed 8th.  Great job Ladies!!!
 
Regional Tennis:  The Pullman High School Girls Tennis Team won the Regional Championship in Yakima.  The Girls qualified 4to the State Championships at the University of Washington starting on Friday May 25th.  The Boys team placed 4th and qualified 2 to the state championships also at the UW on the same dates.  For more info regarding state, please click on this link!

Boys and Girls Track Finish 3rd at District Meet:  The Boys and Girls Track teams both place 3rd at the District Track Meet at West Valley.  For the Hounds, 7 boys and 9 girls qualified for the Regional Meet at Spokane Falls on Friday May 18.  Start time is 4:30 PM .  Admission is $6 for adults and $4 for students and seniors. 
 
Girls Tennis Wins District Title, Boys 3rd:  The PHS Girls Tennis team won the District Championship on Saturday at WSU qualifying 5 girls to the Regional Tournament in Yakima on Saturday May19.  The Hounds scored 48 pts to runnerup Clarkstons 27 and have 3 singles and a doubles team moving on.  The Boys placed 3rd and will send a doubles team to Regionals.  The Regional Tournament will be hosted by the Yakima Tennis Club.
 
Boys Soccer Qualifies for State:  The PHS Boys Soccer team defeated Grandview 2 to 1 in a shootout to qualify for the state tournament.  The Hounds won the shootout 6 to 5 as it took 9 players on each side to determine the outcome.  Next up for the Greyhounds is a 1st round State match at Toppenish HS on Wednesday May16.  Toppenish enters the tournament as the #1 seed out of the CWAC. Match time is 5:00 PM.  Admission is $8 for adults and $6 for students and seniors.
 
Boys and Girls Golf finish 2nd and 3rd at District Tournament:  The PHS Boys Golf team placed 2nd at the district tournament at Quail Ridge in Asotin.  5 boys advance to the Regional Tournament at Apple Tree in Yakima on Tuesday May15.  The Girls placed 3rd and will advance 3 on to Regionals also at Apple Tree on Tuesday May 15.
 
Boys Soccer loses in District Title Match: The Pullman Greyhounds Boys Soccer team lost to Cheney 2 to 0 in the District Championship match at Gonzaga Prep on 5-9-12.  The Hounds will now host Grandview in a Regional Crossover match on saturday 5-12-12 at 1:00 PM.  Admission is $6 for adults and $4 for seniors and students.

The Pullman High School Boys Soccer Team defeated East Valley 2 to 1 on Saturday in the semi-finals of the District Soccer Tournament to advance to the Championship Match.  The Hounds will play Cheney on Wednesday at Gonzaga Prep.  Match time is 6:00 PM.  Admission is $7 for adults and $5 for students and seniors.  Go Hounds!!!

Crossover Regionals will be on May 12, not the 10th.

Basketball Earns 6th Place Trophy at State.  The PHS Boys' Basketball team concluded a very successful season by placing 6th at the State tournament in Yakima.  The Hounds lost their opening round game to eventual state champion Lynden but rebounded by defeating Anacortes.  The Hounds then suffered a defeat to Clover Park in the 4th/6th place game ending their season.  In addition to their 6th place finish at state, the Greyhounds also won the GNL and District 7 Championships ending the year with a 22-4 record.


Boys Basketball Qualifies for Final State 8:  The Pullman Boys' Basketball Team defeated Wapato 81-51 on Saturday 2-25-12 in the State Regional at EWU.  The Hounds will now move on to Yakima for the State Tournament.  Pullman will play Lynden in a 1st round game on Thursday March 1 at 5:30 PM in the Yakima Sundome.
 
Boys' Swim Places 4th at State: The Boys' Swim Team placed 4th at the 2A State Swim Meet in Federal Way this past weekend.  This culminates a successful season that saw the Hounds win the League and District Championships. Congratulations to the Boys' Swimmers for another oustanding season.  Go Hounds!
 

Boys' Basketball Wins District Title/ Girls 3rd:  The PHS Boys' Basketball Team beat West Valley on Friday 49-45 to win the District Championship.  The Hounds move on to the State Regional round of 16 at EWU on Saturday Feb.25 at 6:00 PM.  The Hounds will play the winnner of Medical Lake/Wapato for the opportunity to play in the State Final 8 in Yakima March 1-3.
The girls defeated West Valley 52-22 on Saturday to place 3rd in District and earn a CWAC/GNL Crossover game Friday Feb. 24 against Wapato at Cheney High School at 7:45 PM.  The winner will play Clarkston at 7:45 on Saturday at either Cheney HS or EWU for a spot in the State Final 8 in Yakima March 1-3.
 
 
Boys Basketball Wins League Title:  The Pullman High School Boys' Basketball team won the Great Northern League Championship by beating West Valley Spokane 59-42. Both teams entered the game with 10-1 league records. The Greyhounds (18-2 overall) will enter the District Tournament as the #1 seed and will play the winner of  Medical Lake / Cheney on Wednesday Feb.15 at Pullman in the Hound Pound. Game time is 7:00 PM. 

Pullman Girls Prepare For District Tournament:  The Greyhound Girls' Basketball team (6-6,8-11) wrapped up the regular season with a 54-45 win over West Valley Spokane.  They will enter the District Tournament as the #5 seed and will travel to Deer Park on Tuesday Feb. 14 to play the Lady Stags in a 1st round loser out contest.  Game time is 7:00 PM.

PHS Wrestling Team prepares for Regionals: The Pullman High Wrestling Team qualified 4 wrestlers for the Regional Tournament on Feb.10 and 11 at West Valley Spokane.  Congratulations to the wrestling team for their strong showing at District.  
 


Boys' Swim Wins 4th Consecutive League and District Championship: The Pullman High Boys' Swim Team won their 4th consecutive Eastern Washington Swim League Championship finishing the regular season with a 6 and 0 record.  They followed their regular season performance by winning their 4th consecutive District Championship outscoring their nearest competitor Prosser 172 to 82. Three PHS teams finish in top 6 at State: All 3 Pullman High School teams participating in state tournaments finished in the top 6 this past weekend.  The Girls' Soccer team lost in a shootout to East Valley Spokane ending their season tied for 5th in the state. PHS Girls' Swimmers concluded their season in Federal Way finishing 6th at the 2A state swim meet. The Girls' Volleyball team went 2-2 at the state volleyball tournament finishing in 6th place. Congratulations to all 3 teams for their outstanding effort this Fall.  Go Hounds!!!

Greyhound Volleyball 2nd at Regionals: The PHS Volleyball team defeated East Valley Yakima, then lost a tough match to Selah finishing 2nd at the regional volleyball tournament in Yakima over the weekend.  The Hounds now move on to the state tournament at Evergreen State College in Olympia. Their first match will be on Friday November 11 at 8:00 AM against Black Hills High School. Girls' Cross Country and Girls' Soccer win Academic State Championships:   The Girls' Cross Country and Girls' Soccer teams both won WIAA/Dairy Farmers of Washington/Les Schwab Tires State Academic Championships in the 2A classification.  The Girls' Cross Country team earned a combined GPA of 3.880 and the Girls' Soccer team earned a 3.780.   Congratulations to both teams for their accomplishments both in the classroom and on the field.  The Girls' Cross Country team will compete on Saturday 11-5 in Pasco at the State Cross Country meet having finished 3rd in Regionals out of 17 teams last weekend. Race time is 11:00 AM. The soccer team will host Ephrata on Saturday 11-5 in a Regional winner to state, loser out match at Pullman High School, match time is 1:00 PM and admission is $6/4.  Congratulations and Go Hounds!!!

Volleyball and Girls' Swim win District Championships: The PHS Volleyball team defeated West Valley Spokane 3 games to 1 to earn the District Championship. PHS Girls Volleyball wins 10th consecutive GNL Championship:The Pullman High School Girls Volleyball Team won the GNL League Championship finishing the regular season with a 10-2 record.  This was the 10th straight championship for the girls volleyball program.  They will open district tournament play on Wednesday, 10-26-11, at 7pm, playing the winner of the Cheney/East Valley match at 5:00 PM here at PHS. Admission is $7/$5 which will get you into both matches. For more information regarding the district tournament go to the volleyball site found to the left under Links for Athletic Teams. Pullman Girls Soccer wins GNL Championship: The PHS Girls Soccer Team won the Great Northern League Championship with a record of 10 wins 2 losses. They will begin district tournament play on Saturday here at PHS at noon against the winner of  Clarkston vs West Valley. Girls Swim wins League Championship for 2nd year in a row: The Pullman High School Girls Swim Team earned their 2nd league championship in a row, going undefeated this past season.  They will compete for the District championship in Ellensburg on Oct. 28 and 29.  For information regarding the district meet go to the girls swim site found to the left under Links for Athletic Teams.  Congrats to the Girls Swim Team and good luck in the post season.  Go Hounds!!!
